About
The WomenHood is a platform devoted to supporting and connecting women through the unspoken challenges of womanhood. Exploring issues across women’s health, neurodiversity, money and relationships, we bring the knowledge, the unspoken stories, and the specialists to support gender equity at home and work.
Jess Rad, is the founder of The WomenHood. Jess strives to break down societal taboos and social conditioning to advance gender equity at work and home. Jess draws inspiration from her lived experience, including premature menopause, neurodivergence, divorce and motherhood. As a dedicated social entrepreneur and frequent speaker, she tackles the often overlooked challenges faced by women today through powerful workshops, inspiring talks and community.
Jess began her career in Film & TV as an award-winning marketer for Disney, BBC and 20th Century Fox, but driven by a miscarriage in 2012 and the accidental creation of a powerful women’s network in Brighton & Hove, Jess knew she needed to create bigger impact on women’s lives.
When her period stopped suddenly in 2019, this was a catalyst for change. Jess quit her job with nothing to go to and within a few weeks, had brought together a group of seven women and launched The WomenHood. Beginning with a new event series, The Unspoken Sessions, she was on a mission to support and connect women through the unspoken challenges of womanhood, and to start a movement of Unspoken Women.
The WomenHood now unites women and allies within progressive businesses to come together in a safe and brave space to get the knowledge, mindset and toolkit to make powerful and accessible 1% changes in their lives.
She believes that if a woman can change her world, it will change The World.
Jess is the co-parent carer of two children, a UN Women Delegate CSW68, the first ambassador for SEND charity Amaze, a nominee for the Positive Role Model for Gender - National Diversity Award, the eldest of six and a Swim-Runner.
